Zubair has been crowned the TEKKEN 8 champion at the Esports World Cup 2026 after completing an extraordinary journey that began in the Last Chance Qualifier and ended with a dominant 5-0 victory over LowHigh in the Grand Final. Zubair entered the tournament with considerably less international recognition than many of the established names surrounding him. Waiting for him was South Korea’s LowHigh, the 2025 TEKKEN World Tour champion and one of the most experienced competitors in the game. But the final was not close. Zubair delivered an overwhelming performance with Dragunov and swept LowHigh 5-0 to complete one of the most unexpected championship runs of the season. The victory earned him $250,000 in first-place prize money as well as an additional $50,000 Jafonso Award, an honor given to an EWC champion who reaches the title through the Last Chance Qualifier.
